Grand Wild 2 : Grand froid

Grand Froid raconte la traversée des Alpes par des hommes et des femmes qui ont fui leur pays. Originaires notamment d’Afrique de l’Ouest et d’Afghanistan, ils rejoignent la France depuis l’Italie par les cols du Montgenèvre et de l’Echelle (Hautes-Alpes).
En 2018, la photographe Rose Lecat et le journaliste Maxime Brousse ont rencontré certains d’entre eux, à Clavière (Italie) et à Briançon (France).

Grand Froid, c’est un refuge abandonné dans les Alpes ; une traversée militante au grand jour et une, clandestine, de nuit ; un camp de tentes à Paris : quatre moments qui illustrent le « parcours migratoire » entrepris par des milliers de personnes l’année dernière. Grand Froid, c’est une affiche 44x64, deux cartes postales et un texte, en anglais.

Grand Froid tells the story of the men and women crossing the Alps after fleeing their country – most come from West Africa and Afghanistan. On their way from Italy to France, they must cross either the Montgenèvre or L’Échelle pass. In 2018, photographer Rose Lecat and journalist Maxime Brousse met some of them in Clavières (Italy) and Briançon (France).

Grand Froid is an abandoned shack in the Alps; a border protest led by activists in broad daylight; a clandestine crossing at night; and a tent camp in Paris. These four moments outline the migration route taken by thousands of people last year. Grand Froid is composed of a 44x64cm poster, two postcards and a text in English.

Grand Froid is the second issue of Grand Wild, a series of publications about adventure, the wild, communities and society.
